Upper Dolpo falls on the rain shadow area in the lap of the Himalayas and here lies the most unique biodiversity on earth. Shey-Phoksundo National Park based in Dolpo region, is home to such rare animals like the Blue Sheep, Himalayan Griffon, the Musk Deer and the elusive Snow Leopard.

To the north of Dolpo rises the massive Dhaulagiri (8167m), seventh highest mountain in the world and beyond that lies the Tibet. The views of Kanjiroba peak and Dhauligiri Himalayan range are particularly impressive.

The trek traverses the ancient trade route of the Himalayan people where one can also observe Bonpo religion, one of the earliest forms of Tibetan Buddhism. The culture and lifestyles of Bhotiya and Sherpa people will travel you centuries back.
