The Upper Dolpo via Talphi trek takes you on a magical journey to one of the unique places on earth, Upper Dolpo. Upper Dolpo falls on the rain shadow area in the lap of the Himalayas and here lies the most unique biodiversity on earth. Shey-Phoksundo National Park based in Dolpo region, is home to such rare animals like the Blue Sheep, Himalayan Griffon, the Musk Deer and the elusive Snow Leopard.
To the north of Dolpo rises the massive Dhaulagiri (8167m), seventh highest mountain in the world and beyond that lies the Tibet. The views of Kanjiroba peak and Dhauligiri Himalayan range are particularly impressive.
The trek traverses the ancient trade route of the Himalayan people where one can also observe Bonpo religion, one of the earliest forms of Tibetan Buddhism. The culture and lifestyles of Bhotiya and Sherpa people will travel you centuries back.
Fly from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj takes 40 minutes.
Fly from Nepalgunj to Jumla (2370m.) takes 35 minutes. Stay overnight at camp.
Trek from Jumla to Utthu (2700m.) takes 6 hours. You take on an ascending path to reach Utthu. Stay overnight at camp.
Trek from Utthu to Talphi (3000m.) takes 7 hours. The trail takes on an ascending route. Stay overnight at camp.
Trek from Talphi to Naphu (3080m.) takes 6 hours. You pass through grassland and pine forest. Stay overnight at camp
Trek from Naphu to Chaurikot (2800m.) takes 7 hours. The trail crosses over the Mauri Lagna pass. Stay overnight at camp.
Trek from Chaurikot to Toysem (3200m.) takes 7 hours. The trail follows an ascending route passing through Sherpa villages. Stay overnight at camp.
Trek from Toysem to Kagmara Base Camp (4820m.) takes 7 hours. You take a steep ascending route to reach the Base Camp. Stay overnight at camp.
Trek from Kagmara Base Camp to Lasa (4300m.) takes 7 hours. You cross over the Kagmara pass which is the highest pass of this route. Stay overnight at camp.
Trek from Lasa to Phoksundo Lake (3660m) takes 7 hours. Today the path is ascending and descending. Stay overnight at camp.
Rest at Phoksunda Lake to (3660m.). Today you explore the Rhingmu village and monastery. Stay overnight at camp.
Trek from Phoksunda Lake to Sepka (2600m.) takes 6 and half hours. You descend all the way to reach Sepka. Stay overnight at camp.
Trek from Sepka to Dunai (2100m.) takes 6 hours. Stay overnight at camp.
Trek from Dunai to Juphal (2600m.) takes 4 hours. Stay overnight at camp.
Fly from Juphal to Nepalgunj takes 30 minutes. Stay overnight at hotel in Nepalgunj.
Fly from Nepalgunj to Kathmandu takes 40 minutes.
