Gokyo Lake Trek is considered as an alternative trek to the traditional Everest base camp trekking. This trek offers excellent and magnificent views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu and other mountain peaks and as well of the largest glacier of Nepal, Ngozumpa glacier.
Gokyo trek is one of Nepal’s popular treks, set amongst breath-taking high mountain scenery, through the Khumbu. The tremendous ice ridge between Cho Oyu and Gyachung Kang (7922m) is another majestic panorama of Gokyo trekking. Gokyo lake trek begins with a short flight to Lukla from where you will proceed to Phakding on the day of arrival for an overnight stay. The next day will be spent trekking up to Namche Bazaar. The best season for Gokyo lake trekking is September to December and February to May.
After an early-morning breakfast, our guide will pick you up from the hotel and drive you to the domestic airport terminal. Receive your boarding pass and fly from Kathmandu to Lukla (2886m.) which takes about 35 minutes. The flight offers close-up views of the Himalayas and romantic landscapes of hills, farms, and rivers.
Upon arrival in Lukla, embark on a 3-hour trek to Phakding (2640m.). The trek starts with a gentle climb up the mountainside on the left bank of the Dudh Koshi River. Stay overnight at a lodge.

Kusum Kangaru, Thamserku, Kongde-Ri, and Tawoche peak. Visit village monasteries along the way. Stay overnight at a lodge.
Rest at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization and excursion around the area. It's ideal to acclimatize to the high altitude before heading towards Tyangboche. Visit Khunde hospital set up by Sir Edmund Hillary or take a one-hour walk to Syangboche (3800m.) for outstanding views of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and Kusum Kangaru. Stay overnight at a lodge.
Trek from Namche Bazaar to Dole (4040m.) via Khumjung, takes about six hours. The trail leads to Khumjung, a picturesque village with its own Gompa. Enjoy panoramic views of various mountains from Mongla (4000m.) before descending to Dole through rhododendron and birch forest. Stay overnight at a lodge.
Trek from Dole to Machermo (4410m.) takes about 3 hours. Enjoy views of Cho Oyu and peaks of Kantega and Thamserku. Arrive at Machermo in time for lunch. Stay overnight at a lodge.

Rest day at Gokyo with excursions in and around the valley. Options include a side trip to Fifth Lake via Fourth Lake or trekking from Gokyo to Gokyo Ri. Enjoy stunning views from Gokyo Ri. Stay overnight at a lodge.
Trek/climb from Gokyo to Gokyo Ri (5483m) and then trek back to Machermo (4150m.) via Gokyo village takes about four and a half hours. Enjoy panoramic views before descending to Machermo. Stay overnight in a lodge.

Trek from Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2860m.), which takes about six hours. The last day of your trek leads from Namche Bazaar via Monjo to Lukla. The trek is pleasant, except for a few short uphill climbs, and then down to the Bhote Koshi River, crossing it three times. The last uphill climb of 45 minutes will bring you to Lukla for your overnight stay. Stay overnight at a lodge.
Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu, a journey that takes approximately 35 minutes. These flights are only operated in the morning, usually between 6 AM and 11 AM, as fierce afternoon and evening winds make it impossible for planes to operate. Enjoy this scenic plane ride one more time before returning to Kathmandu.
