Tilman Pass Trek in Nepal is one of the most isolated yet adventurous trekking journey encompassing two remote Himalayan valleys: Langtang and Rolwaling. This is an off-the-beaten-trail trek that offers a rich wilderness experience featuring green verdant forests, pristine high-altitude lakes and glaciers, icy rivers and streams, unspoiled Alpine biodiversity and breathtaking panorama of Himalayan peaks.
The main highlight of the Tilman Pass Trek is the crossing of the Tilman Pass (5320m) which is one of the highest Himalayan passes, along with a visit to world’s highest wetland named Panch Pokhari. The Pass and different points along the trek offers spectacular views of some of the highest mountain peaks such as Langtang, Langshisa, Langtang Lirung, Naya Kanga, Yala peak, Ganesh Himal, Gaurishanker, Dorje Lakpa as well as Shisha Pangma of Tibet.
The trekking touches two highly-protected areas namely, Langtang National Park and Gaurishankar Conservation Area (GCA) which are home to a variety of flora and fauna including endangered Red Panda, Himalayan Monal, Musk Deer, Snow Leopard, Himalayan Thar and Himalayan Black Bear.
In addition, Tilman Pass Trek also offers unique cultural experience of mountain communities, chiefly that of Tamang, Sherpa, Chhetri, Newar and Damai-Kami. On this trek you will have plenty of opportunity to interact with locals and learn about their distinct cultures and tradition. Another major attraction of the trek is the hike up to Kyanjin Gompa which is a centuries-old pilgrimage for Buddhism in the Himalayas.
The best season to do Tilman Pass trek is either in Spring (March-May) or Autumn (Sep-Nov). This is partly camping and partly tea house/lodge trek requiring adequate preparation and acclimatization period.
