This off-the-beaten-path adventure follows the route from Kathmandu – Chhetchhet – Dokhang – Beding – Na – Tso Rolpa – Na – Beding – Chhetchhet – Lambagar – Lumnang – Lapchi Village – Milarepa Cave – Lapchi Village – Lumnang – Lambagar – Kathmandu, offering an unforgettable experience through one of Nepal's least-explored trekking regions.
Beginning with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Chetchet, the trail ascends through lush forests, traditional villages, and alpine meadows to Beding, the largest Sherpa settlement in the Rolwaling Valley. From here, the trek continues into the sacred Lapchi Valley, a revered pilgrimage destination renowned for its ancient monasteries and the meditation cave of the great Tibetan Buddhist saint Milarepa. The hike to Milarepa Cave rewards trekkers with breathtaking mountain scenery, peaceful surroundings, and a deep sense of spiritual tranquility.
The return journey descends via Lapchi Village to Lambagar before driving back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival at Kathmandu International Airport, our representative will greet you and transfer to your hotel. Stay overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.
Rest day in Kathmandu for trip preparation and collecting permits. You will meet the guide who will brief you about the trek. Stay overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.
After breakfast, drive from Kathmandu to Chhetchhet (1377m.) takes about 8 hours. The road first follows the Trishuli River, passing green hills, terraced fields, and small towns like Trishuli Bazaar and Dhunche. From Syabrubesi onward, the road becomes rough and bumpy as it winds along cliffs and valleys. Stay overnight at lodge in Chhetchhet.
Trek from Chhetchhet to Dokhang (2790m.) takes about 8 hours. The trail immediately starts with a steep ascent, following stone steps that climb alongside the Bhote Koshi River. Passing through scattered villages, lush forests, and terraced fields, the path offers fine views of waterfalls and surrounding green hills. The climb is demanding but rewarding as you gradually gain altitude. Stay overnight at lode.
Trek from Dokhang to Beding (3740m.) takes about 7 hours. The trail continues to climb gradually through rhododendron and pine forests, following the Bhote Koshi River upstream. You pass several small Sherpa settlements, prayer walls, and colorful mani stones that reflect the local culture. The valley begins to open wider with beautiful views of snow-capped peaks. Beding is the largest village in Rolwaling valley, surrounded by high cliffs and mountains along with Gauri Shankar. Stay overnight at lodge.
Today is a rest day at Beding for acclimatization. You can hike in and around the area for acclimatization and have panoramic views of mountains like Mt. Gauri Shanker and the Tibetan mountains across the Tibetan border. Stay overnight at lodge.
Trek from Beding to Na (4180m.) takes about four hours. On this day you explore the upper slopes of the valley for the Snow Partridge or visit the nearby glacier lake. The trail slightly ascends along the river bank. This is an open area with fresh air where you can hear the calming sounds of the flowing river. You encounter panoramic views of the mountains as the trek moves forward. You will also come across a Sherpa village where you can interact with these famous climbers and learn about their culture. Stay overnight at lodge.
Today you will hike to Tso Rolpa Lake (4580m.) for an excursion takes about 5 hours. You will be able to witness the beautiful natural lake filled with the chilling water of the glaciers. Return back to Na. Stay overnight at lodge.
Trek from Na to Beding takes about five hours. The path slightly descends along the river bank. You enjoy panoramic views of Menlung, Gauri Shankar and many other unnamed mountains and peaks. Stay overnight at lodge.
After breakfast, begin the descent from Beding, retracing the trail through the beautiful Rolwaling Valley. Pass through the Sherpa settlements of Na, Dongang, and Simigaon while enjoying magnificent views of the surrounding mountains and forests. Continue descending to Chhetchhet. Stay overnight at lodge.
Trek from Chhetchhet to Lumnang(2900m.) which takes about 7 hours. Leave the Rolwaling trail and follow the route toward the sacred Lapchi Valley. You will pass through Tama Koshi hydropower project. The trail ascends gradually through forests, terraced fields, and traditional villages while offering beautiful views of the surrounding hills and river valleys. After crossing several suspension bridges and passing scattered settlements, arrive at the peaceful village of Lumnang, the gateway to the Lapchi region.Stay overnight at lodge.
Trek from Lumnang to Lapchi village(3670m.) which takes about 7 hours.follow the scenic trail into the remote and spiritually significant Lapchi Valley. Passing forests, streams, waterfalls, and yak pastures, the trail gradually ascends to Lapche Village, a peaceful settlement nestled beneath towering Himalayan peaks. The village serves as the gateway to the sacred Lapche Monastery and Milarepa Cave. Stay overnight at lodge or monastery.
Early morning hike to Sephuk (Milarepa) cave (4600m.). The great Tibetan yogi Milarepa is believed to have meditated in the Sephuk cave. The Sephuk is also called Ze Phung in Tibetan, meaning "crest cave or cave on the ridge". It is called so because it sits high above all other hermitages, like a crown over the Lapchi Valley. Enjoy the views and meditate in the peacefulness of the remote cave. Traditionally, pilgrims visiting the cave fast or remain silent on the ascent. Return back to Lapchi village. Stay overnight at lodge or monastery.
Trek from Lapchi village to Lumnang (2900m.) which takes about 7 hours. Descend alongside mountain streams and forests to the village of Lumnang. Stay overnight at lodge.
After breakfast, trek from Lumnang to Lamabagar (2850m.) which takes about 3 hours. Drive back to Kathmandu from Lamabagar which takes about 9 hours. Enjoy the scenic views of the Tama Koshi Valley and the mid-hills of eastern Nepal. Upon arrival, transfer to your accommodation.
Free day in Kathmandu for recreation and relaxation. You can stroll nearby markets and do some shopping. In the evening enjoy a farewell dinner with live cultural show. Stay overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.
