The historical Nepal Unification trekking trail follows the route taken by King Prithivi’s army from Gorkha to Dhading to Nuwakot before conquering Kathmandu Valley. The trail passes through historically significant touristic hotspots in Gorkha (Khanchowk, Tandrang, Dhawa), Dhading (Salyantar, Salyankot,Katunje, Tharpu, Samari Bhanjyang) and Nuwakot (Trishuli, Nuwakot Durbar).
King Prithivi Narayan Shah of Gorkha Kingdom unified Nepal into one undivided nation in 1769 AD. The process of unification, though, began in 1743 AD and involved scores of battles and defeats until the ultimate victory.

Depart Kathmandu early morning for a 5-hour drive by regular bus or private vehicle to Samari Bhanjyang. Today you trace the route taken by King Prithvi Narayan Shah on his unification march to Kathmandu over two centuries ago. Prithvi Narayan Shah is considered the founding father of modern Nepal, being the first king to unite all the territories of the present country of Nepal under one ruler. En route you pass through Trisuli Bazaar, a small town that was once the hub for trekking in this region and is home to a small but interesting traditional bazaar. From here you travel along a gravel road until you reach Samari Bhanjyang, a small trading town. This is a picturesque drive as you can see the beautiful scenery of rice terraces, small gorges and green hills. Stay overnight in lodge in Samari Bhanjyang.
In the beginning you trek along a gradually descending path before your trail turns uphill. Finally you trek through flat land to reach your destination. En route you pass different villages, forests covered with pine and rhododendron, farming terraces, small streams and numerous green hills. There is a small market in Katunje and from here you will get first glimpse of Manaslu and Ganesh Himal from here. Stay overnight in lodge in Katunje.
Start your trek on a gradual downhill track from Katunje. You will pass by many traditional villages and decorative terraced farms. Enjoy this easy and short walk winding through green hills. Kahare is a valley featuring two popular rice flatlands along with mango gardens. You will be staying on the bank of AnkhuKhola, which is famous for fishing, swimming and hydropower. Stay overnight in lodge in Kahare Bazaar.
The trail from Kahrae Bazaar to Aarughat is entirely on a levelled path. Follow the AnkhuKholariver in the first part of the trek before crossing Salayantar, a big flat agricurtural land.Salyantar is a vantage point to catch the view of ManasluHimal. It takes about 1 hr further to reach Aarughat Bazaar which is situated on the bank of Budi Gandaki River. A big hydropower project is under construction on the upper section of Budi Gandaki. Aarughat Bazaar is a popular old market between Gorkha and Dhading. Stay overnight in lodge in Aarughat Bazaar.
This day you trek a steeply ascending path until you reach a high school at Tandrang village. Now, the trail goes gradually uphill along the ridge until Khanchok. There you find a drivable road, high school and an old local market. This place offers you panoramic views of Manaslu, Buddha Himal, LamjungHimal and other unnamed mountains and peaks. Stay overnight at lodge or camp.
To reach Gorkha, the trail moves uphill all the way to Gorkha temple from where you will trek a descending path along a stone staircase for about 20 minutes to reach Gorkha town. The beautiful views of Manaslu, Lamjung, Dhaulagiri Himalayan peaks form an unforgettable backdrop along the way. Stay overnight at lodge in Gorkha.
It is a pleasant drive back to Kathmandu via beautiful Abu Khaireni town. While driving, you head up to Mugling and Kurintar where Nepal's first Cable car is operated to reach Manakamana Temple. En route, you enjoy the mountain views, green sceneries, rice terrace fields, vegetable fields and people being engaged in their daily life activities. From Naubishe you climb to Thankot, the gateway to the capital city.
