Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal's 41st AGM completed

With the monsoon season coming to an end, autumn season is approaching near. Autumn (Sep, Oct, Nov) is considered as the best season for tourist activities in Nepal. It is that time of year when weather is warm, the hills are covered with greenery, colorful flowers bloom and the snowcapped Himalayan peaks are visible. Temperature is neither hot nor cold but mostly sunny. Two greatest festivals of Nepal, Dashain and Tihar (Deepawali), are also observed during this period. Many people plan to visit Nepal in this season.

The 41st Annual General Meeting (AGM) of TAAN was successfully organized on 6 September 2019. The election to the new executive committee was also held on the same day. Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) is the largest tourism association in Nepal with over 2000 trekking agencies.

Outgoing President Nava Raj Dahal and his team successfully completed their tenure and handed over the responsibility of TAAN to the new executive committee (2019-2021) during a ceremony held at Hotel Malla on 19 September 2019. As immediate past president of TAAN, Nava Raj Dahal will still be active in the new executive committee for the next 2 years. Nava Raj Dahal is the Managing Director of Nepal Environmental Treks & Expedition.

Adventure tourism is the main basis of tourism in Nepal. It has great potential to contribute the overall economic development of Nepal. Adventure tourism mainly focuses on trekking, mountaineering, rafting, mountain biking, canyoning, bungee jumping and many more. Despite so many attractions, many visitors from around the world visit Nepal especially for trekking and climbing.

Nepal is preparing to celebrate Visit Nepal Year 2020 with the aim of bringing 2 million tourists. The campaign has the tagline ‘Lifetime Experiences’ and will feature many events, festivals and programs.

To boost VNY 2020 campaign, the government is introducing tourist friendly policies and plans, producing skilled manpower, focusing on expansion and development of infrastructures such as airport and roads, cleaning and sanitation etc. With a stable government in place, Nepal has prioritized tourism as the vehicle for prosperity and happiness.

Mr. Nava Raj Dahal is also a member of Program Implementation Sub Committee of Visit Nepal 2020 campaign. He is responsible for training, promotion, coordination with tourism entrepreneurs and tourism related associations, developing tourism destinations and establishing new tourism products.
