Supreme Court reinstates Parliament in Nepal

In a landmark decision, on 23 February 2021, the constitutional bench of the Supreme Court has annulled the President’s decision to dissolve the House of Representatives (HoR) on the recommendation of the Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and has ordered the reinstatement of the Parliament.

The Supreme Court has declared the recommendation of the Prime Minister to dissolve the HoR as unconstitutional. It has also ordered the authorities to summon HoR meeting within 13 days. This landmark verdict comes in exactly two months, following dissolution of House on 20 Dec 2020.

Nepal is going have a stable government soon which is imperative for the economic progress and development of the country.
