Ladakh

Nestled in between the Karakoram ranges and Himalayas to the south is a placed called Ladakh. Ladakh is a Himalayan treasure, a remote mountainous region that is full of exceptional natural beauty, high passes, glaciers, valleys, rivers and monasteries. Ladakh shares its northern borders with China and Pakistan. It is a gateway to the eastern part of the Himalayas and Kunlun Mountain ranges and Siachen glacier. The average altitude of Ladakh is 3000m.

Suru and Zanskar are two of the main valleys inhabited by people. At 4400m Rangdum is the highest inhabited village in Ladakh. Hemis Festival is one of the biggest festivals celebrated by locals to commemorate the birth of Guru Padmasambhava. Majority of the people here follow Buddhist and Bon religion.
