Our experience with Environmental Trekking was great - Nava was amazing in communicating online with us, and showed us a range of possible trekking routes and different prizes before we chose one, with great patience and detail. The actual trek was superb and the route challenging, but rewarding overall. Our guide, Pancha, was amazing (ask for him if you can!), both confidently navigating the Himalaya while also accommodating our interests us we travelled up the valley, allowing us to stop off at a few gompas and explaining Buddhist theory/architecture to us too! Our porter, Combo, was also great, always cheery and polite, raising spirits throughout the trip. The accommodation varied a little, some with hot water and amazing views, others with some thin beds and dauntingly large spiders, but we did go for a cheaper package, and I'm sure if you were a bit pushy you could ensure consistently good accommodation. Overall, however, a brilliant experience and I'll be sure to return to Nava and his team for future treks here!
Just a note: If possible, avoid using the main road with the cars and take the old route - we had to use the former, partly due to poor weather conditions and partly due to a lack of time so the road offered a faster alternative, but next time we'll definitely stick to the older paths.

I've just returned from the Langtang Classic hike and what an amazing experience!
From the beginning, Nava was quick to reply to emails, friendly and flexible with my plans. Couldn't have asked for an easier booking process.
Hari, my guide is the most wonderful and lovely man. Very experienced guide who was knowledgable and friendly. If you have the opportunity to request him, you won't regret it.
The Langtang region was just spectacular. Having only just reopened recently after the devastating aftermath of last year's earthquake, it was a real pleasure and humbling experience to visit the area with someone as experienced as Hari.
Thank you to the whole team for such a great trip!

We were unsure about our trekking plans right up to arriving in Kathmandu mainly because of our fitness level, the weather and the severe kerosene and gas shortage that Nepal was facing arising from its political situation. But our family of five with three teenagers were in good hands as soon as we met Nava who owns and runs Nepal Environmental Treks & Expedition when we arrived in Kathmandu. His deep knowledge, experience and even patience was a tremendous help in planning our trip knowing we had come from a busy life with limited time for preparation. He made sure we had a great support team and indeed we did! Leading up for the trek was our experienced, able, knowledgeable guide Ratna, who's regular backyard is the ECB. He was able to answer all of our questions from Nepal's history, landscape and its people to 'how much longer' and 'how hard will today be' :) He was good in reacting to our needs on a daily basis including the various changes in our trekking plans! Assisting us was two excellent and great spirited porters, Chaitee and BJay. Such kind and open souls, we could not have asked for better help. They were attentive, intuitive and ready to respond to our needs and great support. It was a great journey for the family, memorable for the time the family got to spend together going through some challenging day and made more so because of the folks at Nepal Environmental Treks. The food was also a joy. We would say Nepal is a must and don't worry too much about the negative news that may come out from the country sometimes. Do go.We will certainly be back and no doubt who will be our first choice!

This is the second time we've used Environmental Treks and Expeditions for a family trek in Nepal. The first time was in December 2010 (2 adults 2 children aged 6 and 8) when we trekked to Annapurna Sanctuary. This most recent trek in December 2015 was with another family (see AndrewJR105 review below) to Gokyo and Everest Base Camp. Although there was an earthquake earlier in 2015, the Everest region received only a little damage, and the overwhelming majority of the places we saw on our 18 day trek were in excellent condition - the lodges were clean and well maintained, with food very well prepared. Our guide (Hari Krishna Sapkota), with more than 30 years experience, selected outstanding places to stay, gave advice on food and walking, and managed the porters and logistics. Nava, the owner of the trekking company, was professional, gave good advice and briefing before and after the trek, making sure personally that everything was properly taken care of. Email interactions with them are fast and comprehensive. We've trekked in Nepal 7+ times over the past 25 years, and have seen many different organisations and guides over the years. We returned to Environmental Treks & Expeditions because of their high professionalism and organisation, experience and advice and quality of guides - Nava really cares about his clients, and for family groups he and his guides pay special attention re safety and enjoyment. We'll never forget the special Christmas meal of chicken curry that Hari arranged, or his gentle but firm guiding and leadership. Thanks for a fantastic trek!

We have just returned from an 18 day trek to Gokyo and Everest Base Camp. We travelled as two families with four children aged from 10 years to 15 years old. We had originally planned to trek from Gokyo to Lobuche via the Cho La Pass, but on the advise of our wonderful guide we amended our plans and trekked via Phortse, Pangboche and Dingboche instead. Definitely the right choice when we spoke to others who had attempted the pass - very icy.
We cannot speak highly enough of Hari - he was an amazing guide. Always willing to share his expertise, with over 30 years of guiding. He knew all the best places to stay, and acquired the best rooms for us (some even with an ensuite toilet!!). He gave wise advice on staying fit and healthy, to the extent that no-one went down with gastro, and we all acclimatised well to the altitude with a sensible pace. We would absolutely recommend taking Environmental Treks - Nava gave great advice before we left, as there were concerns regarding the aftermath of the earthquake. We needn't have worried as lodges and tracks to Gokyo and EBC were all in excellent condition. Hari somehow engineered a special meal for us to celebrate Christmas - greatly appreciated and fondly remembered. Thanks for your leadership and friendship Hari - if you're travelling with kids then your best move would be to ask for Hari.

I organized a relatively last minute trip with the team late this year. Everything was fantastic - from speed of response via e-mail, the options offered for trekking to the team on the ground. My guide (Kaji) was amazing - more of an ambassador for Nepal than just a guide and the whole experience was amazing. I'll be back soon, and would happily book with these guys again.

The experience was super and once in a lifetime. The group was made up of 10 men and 1 woman (me). 8 of us have summited Mount Kilimanjaro in 2013 together so we have been planning this trip for over a year. We were in regular contact with Nava and he was super helpful in keeping us updated especially since the earthquake back in April. Of course we had concerns to continue with the planned trek for October 2015 but since Nava kept us informed of the situation in Nepal we felt it was safe to continue with the planned trip. The age of the group ranges from 32 to 65! All 11 of us made it to EBC and 6 of us made it to Kala Patthar. Key is to go slow to give your body the best chance to acclimatize. Of course all of us are avid hikers and have been staying fit to prepare. We had a great time taking in the Himalayas but we were getting tired of the same food. We shortened our trek from Lukla to EBC and Kalapatthar and back to Lukla to 11 days. We were originally scheduled for a 14 day hike but we requested our guide to help make changes to our flight back to Kathmandu so we can come down sooner. Hari and the porters were able to make the adjustments to shorten our trek and we of course provided extra tips for the effort.
One side note, most of us had delays to our flight into Kathmandu from USA. Nava was able to accommodate all of us to start the trek together. He rebooked the flights to Lukla for all 11 of us and helped track down what happened to our lost luggage. :)

I was lucky enough to have done the circuit with an excellent guide called Ratna. He was extremely knowledgeable, very intelligent, kind, helpful and perceptive. I think with all these qualities he has enhanced my experience of the Annapurna circuit tenfold. Ratna knows a great deal of many things to do with trekking and an equal measure of knowledge outside of it. I would personally recommend him and the company to my friends and anyone interested in doing treks in Nepal as the experience does not get better than this.
The company is very professional, honest and provides the trekking experience you ask for. I asked for a "non-touristy" package that was gritty and I certaintly received it in way of the routes we took.
There are no attempts by the company to steer you one direction over another. They are not pushy and respect your decision of choosing a particular trek (a quality not so easily found in the tourist district of Thamel) and guides who are extremely sociable, professional and knowledgable.
What more could you ask for?

From the first day we had contact with Nava Raj Dahal (owner of Nepal Environmental Treks & Expeditions), we were truly impressed with how he accommodated us and arranged everything. Even after the earthquakes he was so helpful and kind to change our whole itinerary and nothing was ever too much trouble. Then at the end when it was just us 2 South African ladies, of an initial group of 6, who continued with our visit to Nepal, Nava ensured us that he will give us a guide and porter that will look after us. Our expectation was blown away, as Dinesh, our guide and Gopal, our porter, treated us as queens and our happiness was the most important thing to them. They made a life-long impression on us and we treasure the time we spend together on the trek. The trek itself was absolutely beautiful and every day was just so wonderful. To see and experience Nepal on a trek like this, is the most amazing thing one can do for yourself and I can with all honesty recommend all who will ever read this, DO IT!! Contact Nava today! Visit Nepal soon! It is safe, beautiful and life changing!
In addition to this (all arranged by Nava):
Our One Day Sightseeing Tour in Kathmandu, with our guide Suraj Amgain and driver Kumar, was also a great experience and we enjoyed Suraj very much, as he is so friendly, caring and very knowledgeable.
Pokhara was also a great experience and a beautiful place to relax after 10days of trekking.
Chitwan National Park (Hotel Parkland) we were welcomed very friendly and as all activities and meals were included, it was also a treat.
My words are too limited to express what wonderful experience this was for me and I can just hope that somebody will read this and be inspired to also visit Nepal and also have an Amazing time in Nepal.
RonelGreetings from South Africa
We have had the privilege to do a trek, booked through Nepal Environmental Trek. Nava arranged everything for us. Our Guide was Dinesh Dhakal and our carrier was Goba. These people are the best guid and Carrier ever. I have met a lot of different guids and carriers from different companies, but our guid and carrier from Nepal Environmental Treks, are by far the best. Dinesh, our guide, are currently busy with his master degree in Economics. He has provide us with a whole lot of informative information on the trek. He looked very well after us and Goba, our carrier was always ready with a joke.
I would like to recommend Nepal Environmental Trek and I would recommend Dinsh and Gobal.

We just returned from a 13 day trek and really liked Nepal Environmental. We were already in nepal when we searched for a reliable company and honestly after showing up at several different agencies, Nepal Environmental was the most professional, friendly and affordable by far. Our package included everything from jacket rentals to airport transfer and yeah, we were happily surprised how comprehensive they were based on their price point. Our guide Hari was amazing. He has over 30yrs of experience and was very attentive about our health/acclimatization pace. He's also just a really sincere and good person and was knowledgeable about the life, culture and history of the Himalayan region/communities. Hari speaks English really well and is super easy to get along with. One thing to note is that Lukla airport had halted flights for about 4days due to weather and Hari made the suggestion to take a Jeep into a town called Phaplu so we could stay on schedule. Best decision ever. Phaplu was a really challenging trek but we were able to really interact with Nepali folks and be far away from the hyper touristy trail. Our schedule was flexible and Hari adjusted it based on our health ect. Overall, amazing time. Highly recommended.

We are from Singapore and had booked a 9-days trek ABC&Poon Hill of of which Nava had been liaising and very accommodating with our trek plan. Our guide is Hari Krishna +porter BJay and we were so GLAD to have them especially so after the quake happened when we were just half-way through in our 9-days trek! You can see the real, unmasked service level when disaster happened.
Both Hari and BJay villages were badly affected and while they were worried and trying to contact their families amid the bad network, Hari especially did not abandoned us and rush back to his family after hearing his house was badly damaged - however this did happened to another young couple whose guide informed that he need to left them halfway in their trek in order to get back to his family. We cannot blame anyone especially the guides if they choose to do this in the face of a major disaster and thus, we were so appreciative towards Hari who accompany us throughout the whole trek. This is what I call a true reflection of Professionalism in Hari's work as a guide with 30 days of experience. We did cut our stay in Pokhara after our trek so that they can went back to their families much earlier. May Nepal and her beautiful people be able to recover shortly after the quake and the aftermaths sooner.

We did the 15 day Lantang Gosaikunda Helambu trek. The good experience started with excellent communication and flexibility by Nava and his team particularly as the start was delayed by the closure of Kathmandu airport. On the trek itself we had Karma as guide and Cheitay as porter who were outstanding. Karma was a great encouragement and guide with a great sense of humour who helped get us across Gosaikunda pass in deep snow and also stopped us over- extending ourselves on the way down. He also greatly enhanced our cultural experience with his local knowledge and contacts. Cheietay was genuinely kind - always putting our needs before his own and ensuring we got safely through difficult stretches even though he was weighed down by a heavy pack..We will genuinely miss them and recommend them wholeheartedly

Our trekking guide was very friendly, humorous, patient and thoughtful, he made us feel welcome and warm. It was really nice to be able to join other people and got to know them better after days been together. Thanks for Nava's arrangement, I really enjoyed the whole experience!

Highly recommended agency. Very reliable. Central part of the tour was trek to EBC, and all worked as planned, despite some unexpected weather related obstacles. Guide Ratna was excellent, if you can specifically ask for him to be your guide, do it - very friendly, experienced and a lot of fun.
Besides EBC trek we did some country travel planning with this agency (Kathmandu Valley, Chitwan National Park, Lumbini, Pokhara) and all worked well, except hotel in Lumbini, but looking backwards I believe this is more about adjusting expectations rather than quality of the hotel.
We just returned back from Nepal and had an excellent time. Nepal Environmental Treks too care of everything for us- they picked us up from the airport, arranged our flights, hotel, accommodation, and meals. Our guide Dinesh was fantastic- he had eyes like a hawk and was constantly pointing out wild rams and birds, while at the same time dazzling us with facts and figures. Both our guide and Nepal Environmental Trek went above and beyond- including taking us shopping around Kathmamdu and helping us get cash when the ATM didn't work. I highly recommend Nepal Environmental Trek.

I just finished the Royal/Skyline trek set up by this agency. Everything went according to plan and there were no problems with the agency - Nava is a friendly, helpful man (the owner), and this agency has been around more than 20 years, so it's not a fly-by-night business. And the guide, Tek Niarula, was fantastic. He was always helpful. Informative but not intrusive. Genuine at all times, going the extra distance to make it a good experience. And has a great sense of humor. A real pleasure trekking with this man.
However, I do also need to say that I would not recommend this particular trek. There is a new road going around almost the entire trek course, so one didn't really get that trekking feeling. It's a new road, just a couple months old, many parts of it, so it wasn't Nava's or Tek's fault about that. Just passing on information.

Thank you Nava for the excellent trek in the Himalayas. We visited Nepal to see our daughter who was in a study abroad program as part of her University studies and hoped to see some of the country side while we were there. She had met with Nava and set up an amazing trip for us. All the details were arranged, our accommodations were clean and comfortable, and our guide Pancha led us on an amazing journey.
We visited in early December, which is late in the trekking season, but ideal for us as we enjoyed the clear fresh air and less crowds than you might find during the high season. One drawback was that some of the teahouses had already closed for the season, but Pancha knew those that would be open and would meet our requirements. We enjoyed hearty meals, warm hospitality from the Tibetan families that run the tea houses, and comfortable rooms. Note that indoor heating is rare in the mountains (or in Kathmandu for that matter) but Pancha made sure we had our meals at the owner's dinner table that was heated by a tray of hot coals from underneath.
Pancha was very knowledgeable and friendly; we especially enjoyed his respectful and reverent tour of the monastery in Kagbeni. When our daughter wanted to visit the less traveled village of Lubra on our return route, Pancha knew the best trail and found the only teahouse still open for lunch. This type of local knowledge is invaluable.
Our bus ride up to Jomsom was an interesting experience and opportunity to see the countryside and the plane ride back from Jomsom was quite a thrill! I would highly recommend Nepal Environmental Treks and Expedition.
The experience with the company was the best, Ratna, the guide, was very profesional and friendly-family like, it was unforgettable, highly recommendable!!!!!
From hotel accommodations in Kathmandu, to extra gear for trek, great guide and porter, to all arrangements on the trail, Environmental Trekking had it all done for us. They were helpful with emails leading up to the trip, and everything was laid out for us. Our guide Hari couldn't of been any better. He was a veteran guide that took care of us from start to finish which led to a trip of a lifetime for my father and I. He got us right up to Everest base camp, always concerned for our well being. We could not of had better service between Nava in Kathmandu, and Hari and our porter on the trail. We highly recommend Nepal Environmental Treks & Expedition. A perfect trip with a lifetime of great memories, helped by their great service! Thank you
