Rolwaling Trek

Everest Region TrekThe Rolwaling trek is a strenuous trek that taks you into the wilderness of Nepal. Nestled between the Langtang range and the Everest range, the Rolwaling region offers trekkers splendid views of Mt. Everest, Langtang, Jugal Himal and Mt. Gauri Shanker.
The Rolwaling trek is a purely camping trek which takes you on an interesting passage wherein you will come across pristine glaciers, high passes and snow fed lakes. You will have the opportunity for an intimate encounter of the Tamang and Sherpa communities living in this region.
The trail, following the course of the river Tamakoshi on the way to Simi gaon adds an exciting element to your trekking. In this trail the glacier lake Tsho-Rolpo offers you a lifetime experience.

Outline Itinerary 01 (18 days)
Day 1
Drive from Kathmandu (1350m.) to Dolakha (1660m.) via Lamosangu (750m.) and Charikot (1980m.) by bus. You camp for the night.
Day 2
Drive from Dolakha to Shigati (950m.) via Piguti (920m.) takes about three and half hours. The trails pass through a gravel road crossing different villages of mixed communities. You have to cross several streams and jungles with varieties of orchids, rhododendron and other natural vegetation. You camp for the night.
Day 3
Trek from Shigati to Jagat (1440m.) takes about seven hours. You trek through normal flat land along the side of the river. You pass through rice terraces and small villages on your way, which are inhabited by mixed communities. Several times, you cross jungles covered by orchids, few rhododendron trees and wild vegetation. You will have to cross a suspension bridge to reach Jagat, a small town resided by people of mixed culture. You camp for the night.
Day 4
Trek from Jagat to Simigaon (2020m.) takes about seven and half hours. The first part of your trail follows a normal flat path and then it passes through the jungle. At several places you cross over suspension bridges. There are numerous villages on your way where you can find small teashops and some local shops. You climb steeply up to Simigaon, a village inhabited by Buddhist and few Hindus. You camp for the night.
Day 5
Trek from Simigaon to Daldung La (3976m.) takes about seven hours. On the route you come across Sherpa villages. The uphill trek covers regions with varieties of plants and Rhododendron trees. After the uphill trek you then come across paths through which you will enjoy the scenic beauty of the place. You camp for the night
Day 6
Trek from Daldung La to Beding (3690m.) takes about seven and half hours. The trek now ascends uphill through different varieties of plants and Rhododendron trees. You trek over suspension bridges over the deep gorges in a few places, making the trek even more enchanting. You finally reach Beding which is a big Sherpa village. You camp for the night.
Day 7
Rest day at Beding for acclimatization. You can hike in and around the area for acclimatization and have panoramic views of mountains like Mt. Gauri Shanker, and Tibetan mountains of the Tibetan border. You camp for the night.
Day 8
Trek from Beding to Na (4180m.) takes about four hours. This day you can explore the upper slopes of the valley for Snow Partridge or a visit to the nearby glacier lake. The trek path slightly ascends along the river bank. The place is an open path with fresh air and the calming sound of the river. You have panoramic views of the mountains as the trek moves forward. You will also come across a Sherpa village having it’s own specialties. You camp for the night
Day 9
Rest Day at Na for preparation for Ramdung Go (5930m.). You will be able to witness glorious views of mountains like Gauri Shanker, Menlung, Yalung and the mountains of Tibet. You will be on a Yalung Glacier camp today. You camp for the night.
Day 10
Trek from Na to Tso Rolpa Lake (4540m.) You will be trekking along flat and then a gradually up path. You will be able to witness the beautiful Natural Lake filled with the chilling water of the glaciers. The views of Menlung and Tibetan Side Mountains add glory to your trek. You camp for the night.
Day 11
Trek Tso Rolpa to Trakarding Glacier (4800m.) You will walk through the glaciers throughout the day and will be able to experience the new enchanting beauties that would add extra dimensions into your trial. You camp for the night
Day 12
Trek from Trakarding Glacier to Tashi Lapcha Pedi Camp (5755m.) The trail will still be ascending through some rock climbing and a gradual walk on the glacier. You will camp in the Tashi Lapcha Pedi camp today.
Day 13
Climb from Tashi Lapcha Pedi to Tashi Lapcha Pass (5755m.) to Tashi Cape. You will climb up the Tashi Lapcha Pedi and cross the Tashi Lapcha Pass through Tashi Cape. You trek through a snow covered route. You camp for the night.
Day 14
Trek from Tashi Cape to Thyomgbo (4350m.) Today you will walk across the glacier. The trail descends towards Thyomgbo. You camp for the night.
Day 15
Trek Thyomgbo to Thame (3820m.) Early morning you will trek down to Thame. This trail gradually descends and is a bit easier allowing you to be able to enjoy the natural beauty of the environment. You camp for the night.
Day 16
Trek from Thame to Namche Bazaar (3440m.) The trail descends gently for early one hour to Sanasa (3550m.). You can now catch a glimpse of the majestic peaks of the Khumbu including Mt Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Kusum Kangaru. Passing by several villages and numerous teashops, the trail descends steeply to a bridge over the river Dudh Koshi at Phunki Tenga (3250m). The way from Sanasa to Namche is uneven with views of forests, scenery and mountains.
Day 17
Trek from Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2886 m.) takes about six hours. The last day of your trek leads from Namche Bazaar via Monjo to Lukla. The trek is pleasant, except for few short uphill climbs and then down to the Bhote- Koshi River crossing it three times. The last uphill climb of 45 minutes will bring you to Lukla for your overnight stay. You camp for the night.
Day 18

Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu. You take an early morning flight back to Kathmandu which takes about 35 minutes.

Outline Itinerary 02 (16 days)
Day 1

Day 3
Trek from Shigati to Jagat (1440m.) takes about seven hours. You trek along normal flat land along the banks of the river and then pass through a rice terraced field. There are a few small village hamlets found on the way which are inhabited by different ethnic communities. You continue to cross jungles covered by orchid, a few rhododendron trees and wild vegetation. You next cross a suspension bridge to reach Jagat, a small town resided by people from different cultures. You interact with the local folks to get an insight into the their daily lives. Stay overnight at camp.
Day 4
Trek from Jagat to Simigaon (2020m.) takes about seven and half hours. The first part of the trail follows a normal flat path which ascends and descends through the jungle. At several points you cross suspension bridges where numerous settlements are found on the way. You will also find small teashops and local grocery shops in some areas. You then climb steeply up to Simigaon, a village inhabited by Buddhist and a few Hindus. Stay overnight at camp.
Day 5
Trek from Simigaon to Daldung La (3976m.) takes about seven hours. On the route you come across some Sherpa villages. The uphill trek is rich with different varieties of plants and Rhododendron trees. After this, the uphill trail takes ascending and descending paths as you enjoy the natural scenic beauty of your surroundings. If it happens to be the season, you will witness the Yak Naka which is a temporary Yak shed constructed especially for the preparation of cheese and butter. Stay overnight at camp.
Day 6
Trek from Daldung La to Beding (3690m.) takes about seven and a half hours. The trek now ascends uphill through different varieties of plants and Rhododendron trees. You trek over suspension bridges lapping over deep gorges in a few places making the trek even more enchanting. You finally reach Beding which is a big Sherpa village. The Sherpa are known for their legendary mountain skills. Stay overnight at camp.
Day 7
Rest day at Beding for acclimatization. You can hike in and around the area for acclimatization and have panoramic views of mountains like Mt. Gauri Shanker and the Tibetan mountains across the Tibetan border. Stay overnight at camp.
Day 8
Trek from Beding to Na (4180m.) takes about four hours. On this day you explore the upper slopes of the valley for the Snow Partridge or visit the nearby glacier lake. You encounter panoramic views of the mountains as the trek moves forward. You will also come across a Sherpa village where you can interact with these famous climbers and learn about their culture. Day 9
Rest Day at Na. You will be able to witness the various views of mountains like Gauri Shanker, Menlung, Yalung and other mountains of the Tibetan range. On this day you can hike Tso Rolpa Lake for an excursion. You will be able to witness the beautiful Natural Lake filled with the chilling water of the glaciers. Stay overnight at camp.
Day 10
Trek from Na to Beding takes about five hours. The path slightly descends along the river bank. You enjoy panoramic views of Menlung, Gauri Shankar and many other unnamed mountains and peaks. Stay overnight at camp.
Day 11
Trek from Beding to Daldung La (3976m.) takes about six hours. The trek now descends downhill through varieties of plants and Rhododendron trees. You trek over suspension bridges stretching over deep gorges in a few areas. Stay overnight at camp.
Day 12
Trek from Daldung La to Simigaon which takes about six hours. On the route you come across picturesque Sherpa villages. The downhill trek is rich in different varieties of plants and Rhododendron trees. After the downhill trek you will then come across ascending and descending paths while enjoying the scenic beauty of the place. Stay overnight at camp.
Day 13
Trek from Simigaon to Jagat takes about six hours. The first part of your trail follows a normal flat path, and then it descends and ascends through the jungle. At several places, you backtrack across suspension bridges. There are numerous villages on your way. Stay overnight at camp.
Day 14
Trek from Jagat to Shigati takes about seven hours. Crossing a suspension bridge, you trek through normal flat land along the side of the river. You backtrack through rice terrace fields. There are small villages on your way which are inhabited by mixed communities. At several points, you cross jungles covered by orchid, few rhododendron trees and wild vegetation. Stay overnight at camp.
Day 15
Trek from Shigati to Dolakha (1660m.) takes about three and half hours. You have to cross several streams and jungles with varieties of orchid, rhododendron and other natural vegetation. The trails pass through a gravel road crossing different villages of mixed communities. Stay overnight at camp.
Day 16
After an early morning breakfast, you drive from Dolakha to Kathmandu.
