Duration: 14 Days

Type of Trek: Camping

Max Altitude: 2980 m.

Minimum Pax: 2 +

Rara Lake trek takes you through the remote wilderness of Western Nepal. The Rara Lake trek offers a superb experience of nature and a visit to Rara Lake, Nepal's Largest Lake located at an altitude of 3062 meters. You begin the trek with a flight to mountain airstrip of Jumla from Kathmandu via Nepalgunj.

This beautiful high altitude lake is surrounded by alpine meadows and forests of pine, juniper and spruce, whilst in the background you can view the magnificent snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas. In winter, there is often snow on the ridges surrounding the Lake.

The trail is very much "off the beaten path" and affords glimpses of the distinct culture of the local people and their rustic way of life. Within its confines lies the Rara National Park, considered one of the finest parks in the world. The National park consists of Himalayan Black Bear, Leopard, Black Panther, Musk Deer, Red Panda, Wild Boar, Rhesus and Languor Monkeys and numerous species of birds.

While facilities are still basic, the area is an adventurer’s dream with authentic culture, a wealth of natural beauty and the trails largely to you.

This trek is strenuous and is camping only.
