Lumba Sumba Pass Trek is a part of the Great Himalayan Trail trek that lies between Kanchenjunga region and Makalu region. It is a true Himalayan trek filled with multiple challenges: high passes, rugged natural landscapes and wilderness as well as rain and snow. This trek starts from the sub-tropical zone which goes all the way to the alpine zone.

In this trip, travellers will encounter varieties of plants, birds, mammals, ethnic groups, religious sites and ancient culture. Trekkers will find themselves in the wild outback, crossing raging rivers, navigating through dense forests and encountering real wild animals. The high point of this trek is the crossing of sublimely gorgeous Lumba Sumba Pass at 5200m. Trekkers can expect to be rewarded with amazing views of some of the tallest Himalayan peaks including Mt. Kanchenjunga, Mt. Makalu, Yalung Kang and Kumvakarna, and many more.

This region is mainly inhabited by Limbu, Sherpa, Tibetan, Rai, Gurung, Magar, Newar, Tamang, Bramin and other ethnic groups. The trekking trail passes through the highly protected Kanchenjunga Conservation Area (KCA) and Makalu Barun National Park both home to many endangered species like Black bear, foxes, snow leopard and red panda. This trek covers mostly remote and isolated areas of Eastern Himalayan range of Nepal.
