Nepal Environmental Treks

Tsum Valley Trek (21 Days)

Chumchet and Chhekampar are most remote village development committees in Gorkha district. Despite having tremendous potential for tourism development, Tsum Valley – as the area is called, was yet to reap benefits from its immense tourism prospects. The area was opened for group trekking on December 17, 2007, but because of lack of information and promotion, the valley was yet to reap any benefits from its tourism prospects. Realizing this fact, Trekking agencies association of Nepal (TAAN) in association with Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and Tsum Welfare Committee (TWC) organized ‘Tsum Valley Exploration’ campaign in May 2008.

‘Tsum’ is derived from Tibetan word ‘Tsombo’, which means vivid. Traditionally Tsum Valley was a culturally distinct geographical area called ‘Tsum Tso Chucksums’, which means thirteen provinces ruled as a single territory. The altitude in Tsum Valley trek varies from 1905 in Lhokpa to over 5093m at Ngula Dhojhyang Pass on the Tibetan border. The valley occupies an area of about 1663 sq. km. The Hidden valley is surrounded by the Buddha Himal and Himal Chuli to the west, Ganesh Himal to the south, and Sringi Himal to the North. The valley includes two remote VDCs Chhekmpar (Upper Tsum) and Chumchet (Lower Tsum). Due to its remoteness, the ancient relices are still seen.

People in Tsum Valley still practice polyandry system and they have unique culture, tradition and their own dialect. They celebrate unique festivals like Lhosar, Dhacyhang, Saka Dawa, Faning and others. Many Tsumbas (resident of Tsum Valley) report they have seen or found the signs of Mehti, commonly referred as ‘Yeti’ or ‘Abominable Snowman’.

The Tsum Valley Trek begins from Arughat in Gorkha district, which is easily accessible from Kathmandu. The exploration team has recommended from Kathmandu. The exploration team has recommended three different itineraries in Tsum Valley.

Jomsom Annapurna Base Camp Trek

I have returned from a 14-day trek up to Annnapurna Base camp & then over the Jomsom. The trek went very well & I was extremely pleased with the services provided by the guide, Shiva, and my porter, Surya, It was a fabulous experience & I would highly recommend the team of Nepal Environmental. They were very professional & Knowledgable , as well as knowing how to deal with minor injuries. I hope anyone that chooses a trek - The Annapurna region has a wonderful time as well.

Poon Hill Trek

We enjoyed the trek to Poon Hill very much. The arrangements were handled in very professional manner and our guide Krishna was excellent. He handled all of the accommodation at the many guesthouses in a low-key and very efficient manner. He also sums to it that that we ordered our meals in advance. He is knowledgeable of the customs of the people in the villages along the way added to our enjoyment. He also provided some historical background. The matter was excellent for our descent to Poon Hill and the scenery was excellent.
