Dudhkunda lake (4,560m) is in the lap of Mt. Numbur and is quickly becoming a new popular trekking destination in Everest region. The Dhudkunda Khaling Trek takes you through dense forests of rhododendron and experience a variety of wildlife combined with cultures of Rai community. Dudhkunda literally means ‘milky lake’ and is regarded a sacred lake. During full moon in August a weeklong celebration is held here participated by pilgrims and Jhankris (Shamans). It is believed that taking a dip in its holy waters will fulfill one’s wishes.

The trail offers exclusive interaction with the unique Khaling Rais of this area. They have their own language and cultural practices such as the Bhume dance, Chandi dance and Naghi Puja. The Khaling Rai believes that in order to continue human existence, it is necessary to worship their ancestors and their deity, earth.

Day 01: Fly from Kathmandu to Phaplu which takes 35 minutes.

Day 02: Trek from Salleri to Takshindu via Ringmo and it takes about four hours.

Day 03: Trek from Takshindu to Beni via Sahasra which takes about seven hours.

Day 04: Trek from Beni to Dudhkunda and it takes about four hours.

Day 05: Trek from Dudhkunda to Takshindu which takes about nine hours.

Day 06: Takshindu to Thulo Dhunga via Nungthala and it takes about seven hours.

Day 07: Trek from Thulo Dhunga to Sombare which takes about seven hours.

Day 08: Rest day at Sombare. You visit Khaling museum at Sombare.

Day 09: Trek from Sombare to Ratnange via Changmiteng and it takes about four hours.

Day 10: Trek from Ratnange to Phaplu which takes about three hours.

Day 11: Fly from Phaplu to Kathmandu and it takes approximately 35 minutes.

Day 01: Fly from Kathmandu to Phaplu which takes 35 minutes.

Trek from Phaplu to Salleri and it takes about four hours. You see the local market in Salleri and enjoy a visit to local monasteries such as Chewang monastery.

Day 02: Trek from Salleri to Takshindu via Ringmo and it takes about four hours.

You pass through different Sherpa settlements. This day’s trekking moves through wood. En route you can enjoy bird watching. The sherpa cultural show at Ringmo and Takshindu would provide you a remarkable experience.

Day 03: Trek from Takshindu to Beni via Sahasra which takes about seven hours.

You will be stunned to see the mountain views from Takshindu early in the morning. You can visit cheese factory, monasteries of nuns and monks. This day you walk through alpine forests and find yak farms on the way. You can encounter various species of birds. Moreover you experience wilderness and beautiful landscapes. The splendid view of Numbur, Khatang and Karyolung Himal captivates you completely.

Day 04: Trek from Beni to Dudhkunda and it takes about four hours.

This day also you walk through alpine forest. You can see mountain glaciers, holy Lake Dudhkunda and beautiful surrounding. You experience high altitude thin air and enjoy spectacular views of Numbur, Khatang and Karyolung Himal.

Day 05: Trek from Dudhkunda to Takshindu which takes about nine hours.

You can observe Sherpa culture on the way. You find animal herding on the Himalayan pastures. In addition you can experience wilderness and beautiful landscape. The cultural show of Sherpa at Ringmo would always hunt your memories till late in life.

Day 06: Takshindu to Thulo Dhunga via Nungthala and it takes about seven hours.

Nungthala is a tourist centre where tourist facility lodges and tea shops are available. You walk through Khaling Rai settlement on the way to Thulo Thunga. Khaling Rais have their own language and practice both joint and nuclear family ties. Some of their important rituals are the Bhume dance, the Chandi dance and the Naghi puja. Although the Khaling Rais belong to the Kirant ethnic group and have their own festivals, they celebrate the Hindu and Buddhist festivals as well.

Day 07: Trek from Thulo Dhunga to Sombare which takes about seven hours.

Day 08: Rest day at Sombare. You visit Khaling museum at Sombare.

The village tour will provide you a memorable experience. You can observe the unique Khaling Rai lifestyle and culture.

Day 09: Trek from Sombare to Ratnange via Changmiteng and it takes about four hours.

This day you visit Changmiteng, a beautiful Sherpa settlement. You can also visit local monastery and taste different varieties of local Sherpa drink.

Day 10: Trek from Ratnange to Phaplu which takes about three hours.

In the morning you can enjoy sunrise and mountain views from Ratnange.

Day 11: Fly from Phaplu to Kathmandu and it takes approximately 35 minutes.

The Trip includes following services:
