On the course of trekking to Ama Dablam Base Camp you will witness some of the beautifully settled Sherpa villages within easy walking distance from the Namche Bazaar, the Sherpa capital, and you will find yourself standing at the foothill of Ama Dablam, most splendid mountain. Ama Dablam base camp trekking trail shares the same trail with Everest base camp Trek and Kala Patthar until Pangboche (3930m). The trail separates either from Tyangboche monastery or Phortse village but after reaching Pangboche, it is just a day hiking trip to Ama Dablam base camp.

The term “Ama Dablam” means ‘mother’s necklace’. The hanging glacier resembles a ‘Dablam’ which is a piece of traditional necklace worn by Sherpa women around their neck.  This trekking route passes through the lovely forest to the world renowned and sacred monastery of Tyangboche.

This fascinating trip to the base camp of the world's most beautiful mountain Ama Dablam offers magnificent views of Mount Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Kangtega and the breathtaking view of Ama Dablam as well as the beautiful landscape of the Ama Dablam Base camp itself. It is also an opportunity to get acquainted with the Sherpa’s way of life, their culture, tradition and religion.

You begin your trek from Lukla following a gentle climb up the mountainside on the left bank of the Dudh Koshi River. It is an ideal place to spend a rest day for acclimatization to the high altitude before heading off towards Tyangboche. For acclimatization you walk up to Khumjung where you can visit a monastery. You can also enjoy the splendid views of Everest, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Nuptse, Lhotse, Tawoche, and Kwangde and so on. Or you can take an hour's walk up to Syangboche (3800m.) where Everest View Hotel is situated above Namche for an outstanding view of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Kusum Kangaru. Stay overnight at lodge/camp.

You choose a back country route away from the tourist trail, traveling through tiny yak herder settlements and over countless moraines as you circle around the base of Ama Dablam. Base camp sits in a beautiful grassy area at 14,500 feet. Stay overnight at lodge/camp.

Day 07: Trek from Ama Dablam Base Camp (4572m) to Tyangboche. Stay overnight at lodge/camp.

Day 08: Trek from Tyangboche to Namche Bazaar (3440 m) takes about four and half hours.

The walk from Tyangboche is mostly downhill on the main busy trail with a few steep climbs for an hour from the bridge at Phungitenga, near to Shanasha. The walk to Namche is very scenic on a long winding path. En route you will visit traditional villages of Khumjung and Khunde. From Khumjung village another 30 minutes walk brings you to the village of Khunde, where you can visit the Khunde Hospital funded by Sir Edmund Hillary Trust. After Khunde, a scenic and pleasant walk brings you to Namche for an overnight stay. Stay overnight at lodge/camp.

Day 09: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2886 m.) it takes about six hours.

The last day of your trek leads from Namche Bazaar via Monjo to Lukla. The trek is pleasant, except for few short uphill climbs and then down to the Bhote- Koshi River crossing it three times. The last uphill climb of 45 minutes will bring you to Lukla for your overnight stay. Stay overnight at lodge/camp.
