Langtang trekking region is the third most popular trekking destination in Nepal. Langtang treks are easily accessible from Kathmandu. It is a less populated trekking destination but it is the closest place where you could get the massive snow capped mountains and beautiful glaciers. This valley is located 19 miles north of Kathmandu. The whole valley is dominated by Mount Langtang Lirung (7246m) and offers pine forest, water falls, rugged rock and snow-capped peaks, flora and meadows.
The main attraction of Langtang trekking is the panoramic Himalayan view of snow capped mountain like Langtang Lirung, Gang Chhenpo, Naya Kanga, Dorje Lakpa, Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, Gourisankar etc.
Langtang trekking route goes through traditional ethnic villages and untouched forests. In this valley besides natural wonders you can get the opportunity to explore the amazing life styles of Tamang and Sherpa peoples and their cultures besides that you can see wild animals like Himalayan Thar, Red panda, Leopards, Musk deer and different species of birds also.The popular Kyangjing Gompa where you can sample the local yak cheese and visit the ancient Buddhist Monastery.
In Langtang trekking you will get an opportunity to walk through the area of Langtang National Park. Langtang National Park was established in 1976 to conserve the unique flora and fauna of the region.

1
Drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Besi takes about nine hours. You head north out of Kathmandu driving through scenic foothills and ridgeline vistas to Syabru Besi passing through Dhunche. While passing along the road on the bank of the Trishuli River you catch a glimpse of Ganesh Himal, terraces and green hills. Stay overnight at lodge.

Trek from Syabru Besi (1600m.) to Lama Hotel (2470m.) takes about five and half hours. The first part of the trail crosses through the Bhote Koshi and follows the Langtang Khola. This trail is a gradual ascent up to Bamboo passing through landslide. Afterwards, you trek down gently to Rimche (2400m.) through Bamboo (1960m.) which lies at the bank of Langtang Khola. En-route you can see red pandas, monkeys and bears if you are lucky. Stay overnight at lodge.

Trek from Lama Hotel to Langtang village (3430m.) via Ghore Tabela takes about six hours. As you continue climbing there are occasional glimpses of Langtang Lirung between the trees. At Ghora Tabela [3000m], the trail emerges from the forest. While walking here, you can catch glimpse of white monkeys and local birds. The trail continues to climb gently and the valley widens, passing a few temporary settlements used by herders who bring their livestock to graze in the high pastures during the summer months. There is a monastery you can visit shortly before arriving at the village of Langtang, the headquarters of the Langtang National Park. The houses of Langtang and its neighboring villages are of the flat-roofed Tibetan style, surrounded by stone walls enclosing fields of buckwheat, potatoes, wheat, turnips and barley. Trek from Langtang Village to Kyangjin Gumba (3870m.) takes about three hours. The trail climbs gradually through small villages and yak pastures as the valley opens out further and the views become more extensive. After crossing several small streams and moraines, the trail reaches the settlement at Kyangjin. Here there is a small monastery and a government-operated cheese factory. You arrive at Kyangjin by lunch time allowing time to acclimatize and explore the area. At this point, you can enjoy the panoramic views of Dorje Larpa (6990m.), Langtang Ri (6370m.), Langtang Lirung (7245m.) and so on. Stay overnight at lodge.

Rest day at Kyangjin Gumba and excursion in and around area. You can visit the monastery and the cheese factory, walk up the moraine to see the spectacular ice faces and tumbling glaciers of Langtang Lirung or ascend Kyangjin Ri [4350m], directly behind the village, for a breath-taking panorama of the Langtang peaks. Stay overnight at lodge.

Trek from Kyangjin Gumba to Lama Hotel takes about six hours. From Kyangjin you retrace your route, following the Langtang Khola to Langtang village and on to Ghora Tabela. After lunch you continue the steep descent to Lama Hotel. Stay overnight at lodge.

Trek from Lama Hotel to Syabru Besi via Sherpa Gaon takes about five hours. The upper part of the trail is more beautiful for the panoramic views of the mountains and green hills. This path is broader and remains sunny through the different Shepra and Tamang villages. The first half of the trail is gradually down and then the trail does a steep descent to the Syabru Besi (1600m.). The main inhabitants belong to the Tamang community and have adopted theTibetan lifestyle. Stay overnight at lodge.

Drive from Syabru Besi to Kathmandu by bus, takes about nine hours. You drive through scenic foothills and ridgeline vistas to Kathmandu. The first part of your drive to Trishuli Bazaar is along a gravel and bumpy road and then a well paved road to Kathmandu.
